Binance in Finland: licence status in 2026
Since 1 July 2025, only companies holding a MiCA licence may actively offer crypto services in Finland, and since 1 July 2026 the last EU-wide transition periods have ended too; see is crypto legal in Finland. Binance applied for a MiCA licence in Greece, but according to news reports it withdrew the application on 24 June 2026 and said it would seek authorisation in another EU country.
As a result, Binance said it would stop onboarding new users in the EU and limit services for existing EU accounts from 1 July 2026. According to the reports, withdrawals of assets remain available. The details of which functions still work have varied between reports, so check Binance's own notices in your account.

The situation can change if Binance obtains a licence in another EU country. You can always check the current status yourself in ESMA's MiCA register: if Binance's EU entity appears there as an authorised crypto-asset service provider, it can again offer services in Finland through passporting.
I have a Binance account in Finland: what should I do?
- Don't panic, but don't wait indefinitely: according to the reports, withdrawals remain open. Moving your assets while that is possible reduces your dependence on a service that is not licensed in the EU.
- Move to your own wallet or a licensed service: you can transfer crypto to your own crypto wallet or to an exchange that holds a MiCA licence. Check the network carefully and make a small test transfer first.
- Download your transaction history now: you need it for your Finnish tax return, and it may be harder to get later. Save the CSV exports in a safe place.
- Moving crypto between your own wallets is not a taxable event: but selling, converting to another crypto or to euros on the way is a taxable disposal in Finland.
- Beware of scams: messages claiming to "help migrate your Binance account" are a typical phishing theme. Only follow instructions shown inside your own account. See crypto scams in Finland.

Binance in Finland: frequently asked questions
Is it illegal to use Binance in Finland?
The MiCA rules are aimed at companies, not individual users: an unlicensed company may not actively offer crypto services in the EU. Using such a service is not a criminal offence for you, but you lose the protection that supervision provides, and the service may limit or close your account. That is why we only list licensed services.
Can I still withdraw my crypto from Binance?
According to news reports and Binance's notices to EU users, withdrawals remain available after 1 July 2026. Check the current situation in your own account, and don't rely on links in emails or messages.
Will Binance come back to Finland?
Binance has said it will seek MiCA authorisation in another EU country. If it is granted, the licence would be valid across the EU, including Finland. We will update this page if the situation changes; you can also check ESMA's register yourself.
Do I have to report Binance trades in my Finnish tax return?
Yes. If you are tax resident in Finland, sales and crypto-to-crypto swaps are taxable regardless of which exchange you used. Download your full transaction history from Binance while you can. See crypto taxes in Finland.
