Bitpanda's two pricing models
Bitpanda works with two pricing models. The standard app prices trades with a built-in, invisible pricing margin ("Best Price"), and Bitpanda does not publish its exact average margin; only third-party estimates exist.
Bitpanda Pro / Fusion, aimed at more experienced users, is a separate order-book trading view with a transparent maker/taker price list.
The difference between the two is significant and worth knowing before your first crypto purchase.
How to track the margin included in the price yourself
Bitpanda does not show a separate fee in euros on a Best Price purchase; the pricing margin is included in the price shown. You can find the margin yourself by comparing the price you paid with bitcoin's market price at the same moment. In the order-book Fusion view, the cost is shown instead as a separate trading fee, which is usually clearly lower. Check the current fees in Bitpanda's price list.
How to open a Bitpanda account in Finland
Registration uses an international process, so there is no quick identification with Finnish online banking credentials. Account opening works like this:
- Create an account with your email in the Bitpanda app and confirm the email address.
- Verify your identity by uploading an identity document and taking a selfie. The automated check often confirms your identity in the same session.
- Answer background questions about the source of your funds and your investment experience.
- Make a SEPA deposit to your euro balance. A SEPA transfer typically arrives within a banking day; card, Skrill, Neteller and Zimpler also work.
- Choose the Best Price or Fusion view and make your first purchase – see above for which suits your goal.
Because Bitpanda verifies identity with an ID document, it is one of the options if you don't have Finnish bank ID; see buying crypto without Finnish bank ID.
Bitpanda fees in Finland
Bitpanda's price list is two-tiered, and the real cost in the standard app is hard to check in advance because it is not shown as a separate figure:
| Product / event | Fee | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Best Price app (buy/sell) | about 1.49% | Built-in pricing margin, not shown as a separate fee |
| Bitpanda Pro / Fusion, maker | From 0.25% | Falls with monthly volume, down to 0.02% at high volumes |
| Bitpanda Pro / Fusion, taker | From 0.15% | Falls with monthly volume |
| SEPA deposit / withdrawal | €0 | SEPA Instant in minutes, standard SEPA 1–3 banking days |
| Crypto withdrawal to your own wallet | Network fee | Pass-through blockchain fee, no separate Bitpanda charge |
Note: Bitpanda does not publish its exact Best Price margin on its own pages. 1.49% is a commonly reported estimate, and you can track your own margin by comparing the price you paid with the market price. Always check the current price list on Bitpanda's own help page before trading.
According to Bitpanda's own guidance, euro SEPA deposits and withdrawals are free. Source: Bitpanda's fee guide (read 5 October 2026).
Bitpanda in brief
Bitpanda is a Vienna-born player with a long history and a strong EU regulatory position: according to Bitpanda, the company holds 16 separate EU licences or registrations.
In practice the service resembles Coinbase: an easy but opaquely priced standard app alongside a more transparent order-book view that takes some learning.
Different sources quote conflicting figures for the size of the coin selection (200–650+), but Bitpanda itself states an offering of over 650 cryptocurrencies.
Bitpanda staking
Bitpanda offers staking for a number of coins, including ETH. According to Bitpanda's support page, rewards are distributed weekly and unstaking ETH has a two-day waiting period, while most other assets can be unstaked at any time. Rewards are not guaranteed. Staking rewards are taxable capital income in Finland when received; see crypto staking in Finland.
Security and custody
Bitpanda says it keeps crypto-assets in cold storage checked by an external auditor, and that customer assets are backed 1:1 and are not lent out or used as collateral. The company holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications.
We cannot verify the exact cold storage share ourselves, so this information is based on the company's own statement.
Is Bitpanda safe and reliable?
- MiCA licence: Bitpanda GmbH received a crypto-asset service licence from Austria's FMA in 2025. It is Bitpanda's third MiCA-type licence in Europe, after earlier approvals in Germany and Malta.
- FMA sanction: the FMA issued Bitpanda Austria Austria's first published MiCA sanction, related to token marketing practices. This is separate from the service licence itself, but it shows that the supervisor actively monitors the business.
- Long track record: founded in 2014 and Austria's first tech unicorn in 2021. More than a decade of operation gives a point of comparison with newer players.
Regulation and possible sanctions do not remove market risk. See also our guide to crypto scams in Finland.
Who is Bitpanda best for?
Bitpanda suits users who value a long European track record and broad licence coverage, and who are willing to switch to Fusion orders to keep costs reasonable.
If your purchases are small and infrequent, the hidden margin of the Best Price app can feel surprisingly expensive compared with, for example, Coinmotion's transparent price list.
How to buy crypto on Bitpanda
- Log in and check your euro balance.
- In the Best Price view, choose the cryptocurrency and amount, or switch to Fusion for a more precise price.
- In Fusion, place a limit or market order in the order book; the fee shown follows the transparent maker/taker price list.
- Confirm the order. A market order is usually executed within a few seconds.
- The purchase appears in your portfolio immediately and can be moved to your own wallet.
How to sell and withdraw from Bitpanda
- Open your portfolio and select the cryptocurrency you want to sell.
- Enter the amount. The Best Price and Fusion views have the same fee differences as when buying.
- Confirm the sale; the euros stay in your Bitpanda balance.
- Request a withdrawal to your bank account. A normal SEPA transfer usually arrives within 1–2 banking days; SEPA Instant is faster if your bank supports it.

Bitpanda user experiences 2026
We went through public user feedback, including Trustpilot reviews. Recurring themes:
- Positive: the wide selection, the easy interface and the strong EU regulatory position are often mentioned as building trust.
- Critical: delayed or cancelled withdrawals, account freezes during requests for additional information and slow support (no phone or live chat) recur, and higher fees than competitors are the most common cost complaint.
Bitpanda taxes in Finland
Bitpanda does not withhold taxes for you. From the 2026 tax year, crypto service providers in the EU report their customers' transactions to tax authorities (Verohallinto), but you still have to report capital gains and losses yourself in your annual tax return.
| Event | Tax consequence |
|---|---|
| Selling crypto for euros | Capital gain or loss, capital income tax 30% / 34% |
| Crypto-to-crypto swap (e.g. BTC → ETH) | Treated as a disposal, taxable event |
| Staking rewards | Capital income at their value when received |
| Deemed acquisition cost | 20% (40% if held over 10 years) if the actual purchase price is not used |
Bitpanda's transaction history can be downloaded from your account. This is not tax advice; see our guide to crypto taxes in Finland.
Bitpanda in Finland: frequently asked questions
Is Bitpanda legal and regulated in Finland?
Yes. Bitpanda GmbH holds a MiCA crypto-asset service licence from the Austrian supervisor FMA. The licence covers the whole EU, including Finland.
Why is Bitpanda's Best Price app more expensive than Fusion?
The Best Price app prices trades with a built-in margin that is not shown as a separate fee on the receipt. The Fusion order book shows a transparent maker/taker price list, which based on the price list is clearly cheaper for the same purchase.
What is the FMA sanction against Bitpanda?
Austria's supervisor FMA issued Bitpanda Austria the country's first published MiCA sanction, related to token marketing practices, not the service licence itself. It is a good reminder that a MiCA licence does not stop the supervisor from intervening in individual practices.
How many cryptocurrencies can I trade on Bitpanda?
Figures vary between 200 and 650+ depending on the source, and Bitpanda states an offering of over 650 cryptocurrencies. Either way the selection is wide compared with Finnish exchanges; check the current offering in the app.
Does Bitpanda have customer support in English?
Yes. Bitpanda is an international, English-language service, and support is handled through a ticket system, without phone or live chat support. It has no Finnish-language support.
