The biggest cost trap: the "simple" buy view
Several international apps have two modes: a simple buy button and an order book view. The simple view is convenient but usually includes a spread or margin built into the price, and card payments add a separate fee. On a small card purchase the total cost can be several percent. If the app offers an order book (Coinbase Advanced Trade, Crypto.com Exchange, Bitpanda Fusion), using it with a SEPA deposit is usually much cheaper.
The Finnish apps (Coinmotion, Northcrypto, KvarnX) show their fee as a separate, published percentage, which makes the cost easier to see in advance. Northcrypto's Instant Buy and Autopilot features cost more than its normal trading fee.
How to choose the best crypto app in Finland
- Licence first: only use apps of companies with a MiCA licence. Check in ESMA's register or our licence guide.
- Can you sign up? Finnish apps need Finnish bank ID; without it, see buying crypto without Finnish bank ID.
- Real cost: compare the euro amount you get for, say, €100, not the advertised percentage. Our fee calculator helps.
- Security features: turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, and download apps only via the service's own website or official app store listing.
- Tax reports: an app that exports a clear transaction history makes your Finnish tax return much easier.
Beware of fake crypto apps
Copies of well-known crypto and wallet apps regularly appear in app stores and search ads. Check the developer name, follow the link from the service's own website, and never enter a wallet recovery phrase into an app that asks for it unexpectedly. See crypto scams in Finland.
Best crypto apps in Finland: frequently asked questions
Which crypto app has the lowest fees in Finland?
In our comparison KvarnX has the lowest stated trading fee (from 0.1%, minimum €1). Among international apps, the order book views of Crypto.com, Bitpanda and Coinbase are cheaper than their simple buy views.
Is there a crypto app in English that works in Finland?
Yes. Coinbase, Crypto.com, Bitpanda and eToro all work fully in English and are licensed under MiCA in other EU countries, so they can serve customers in Finland.
Is it safe to keep crypto in an app?
Licensed apps are supervised, but crypto held with a service is not covered by deposit protection. For larger amounts, consider moving them to your own crypto wallet.
