We only list licensed crypto exchanges in Finland

Every crypto exchange listed on this page holds a licence under the EU's MiCA regulation, granted either by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA) or by the supervisor of another EU country and notified to Finland. For us this is a principle, not a formality. Read more about our review principles.

Mini reviews

The seven crypto exchanges in Finland in brief

Below is a short summary of each crypto service. More detail is in each full review.

Coinmotion: longest track record

Finland's longest-running crypto exchange (since 2012), with a MiCA licence from the FIN-FSA since 2025. The trading fee is tiered by volume from 0.8% up to 2.0% on small, occasional purchases, but the price list is transparent and does not hide costs in the spread. Support in Finnish and Swedish evens out the difference to competitors, although a SEPA withdrawal costs €0.90. Read the full review →

Northcrypto: competitive, tiered pricing

The trading fee depends on your volume over the previous 30 days: from 0.6% at high volume, 1.0% on smaller purchases. Instant Buy and Autopilot are charged separately at 2–3%. The track record since 2018 is shorter than Coinmotion's and the selection narrower, but for a cost-conscious user it is still a competitive choice. Read the full review →

KvarnX: modern newcomer, lowest fee

The newest exchange in the comparison (parent company Kvarn Capital Oy from 2022, KvarnX itself from 2023). According to its price list the trading fee is the lowest in the comparison: from 0.1% at high volume, 0.8% at low volume, with a €1 minimum fee on every tier. The interface is clear and beginner-friendly, and the service states that euro withdrawals typically take 1–2 banking days. Read the full review →

eToro: crypto and shares in one portfolio

An international platform whose EU entity eToro (Europe) Ltd is supervised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under MiCA. Crypto is just one asset class among others, with more than 150 cryptocurrencies available. The trading fee (1.00%, not tiered) is the highest in the comparison, and withdrawals are typically slower than with the Finnish SEPA exchanges. Read the full review →

Coinbase: exchange giant, two different prices

MiCA-licensed from Luxembourg (CSSF) since 2025. Pricing in the Simple app (about 0.5% margin plus a 1.49–3.99% payment method fee) can push the total cost of a small purchase close to 4–5%, while the Advanced Trade view charges 0.60–1.20% for the same trade, falling further at high monthly volumes. The selection is wide, more than 200 cryptocurrencies. Read the full review →

Crypto.com: app, card and exchange together

MiCA-licensed from Malta (MFSA) since 2025. The Exchange view fee is competitive, from 0.25% maker, but instant buy in the App wallet blurs the real cost with a built-in spread. The selection is the widest of the international players in the comparison, more than 350 cryptocurrencies. Read the full review →

Bitpanda: long history, hidden margin

MiCA-licensed from Austria (FMA) since 2025, with 16 EU licences and registrations and operating since 2014. The roughly 1.49% pricing margin in the Best Price app is not shown as a separate cost item, while in the Fusion order book the same trade costs clearly less according to the price list. Three of the four crypto exchanges tier the trading fee by volume, so the "from" figure only applies at higher volume; on a small, occasional purchase the real cost is closer to the top of the range. The cheapest trading fee also does not automatically make the best crypto platform: withdrawal speed, language support and the breadth of the selection matter differently to different users. Our criteria are described on the page how we review.

Why do you list only seven crypto exchanges when there are dozens on the market?

We only list services whose licence information, fees and withdrawal terms we have gone through with the same criteria; see our method. This is slower than listing every crypto platform on the market, but every review is backed by the same checklist and not just the company's marketing material. The operating environment is also converging under the EU's MiCA regulation as the European supervisory authorities update their guidance and raise the minimum requirements for the whole sector.

Is the cheapest crypto exchange in Finland always the best choice?

Not necessarily. When purchases are small and infrequent, the difference in trading fees stays small in euros. Then language support, a clear interface or withdrawal speed can matter more in everyday use than a few cents in trading fees.

Can I use crypto exchanges in Finland without Finnish bank ID?

The Finnish exchanges (Coinmotion, Northcrypto, KvarnX) identify new customers with Finnish online banking credentials. The international platforms in the comparison (eToro, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Bitpanda) verify your identity with a passport or ID card instead. See buying crypto without Finnish bank ID.
